Crafting with Friends

The Friends of Black Hill Nature Programs was formed in April of 2001 by volunteers interested in supporting the interpretive naturalist staff and the nature programs. With April being the anniversary month of the Friends, this month's members-only activity will be creating accessories for the nature play spaces. Join us on April 22 at 4:00 pm at the Discovery Center for some crafts that will benefit the nature playspaces. We'll have rocks and peg people to paint. Bring your creativity and we'll bring the supplies.

If you have any additional ideas for things that would be useful in the mud kitchen, fairy garden, or sandbox we'd love to hear your suggestions. Keep in mind, these things will be outdoors so they need to withstand the elements and many hands.

Register below so we know how many people to expect!

Spring Hike with Friends

Join the Friends for the first hike of the year. With spring just beginning, we’ll be looking for all signs of spring on this walk. Meet at the Black Hill Discovery Center at 10:00 am to carpool to the trailhead. Space is limited so please fill out the form below to register for the hike.

Notes:

  • Parking at the trailhead is limited to 5 cars so carpooling is preferred.

  • The hike is mostly paved so a stroller would probably be okay but a backpack carrier is suggested.

  • The hike will be approximately 2 miles in total and be a leisurely pace to allow for lots of observing.
