A woodland species forming a clump about 1-2+ ft. tall. The lance-shaped leaves are whitish beneath. Numerous lavender, two-lipped flowers are crowded into whorled clusters in the axils of the upper leaves.

This species has been identified by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources as rare, threatened or endangered. The plants on this list are among the least understood, the rarest, and the most in need of conservation efforts. For more information click here.
